Feed Your Body + Spirit is a NEW twist on our Nutrition + Health Class Series. Our 2016 classes feature:

In these live, online, interactive classes, professionals give you tools to feed your body and spirit. Food is energy, and what and how we consume it makes a huge difference.

In these classes, we will guide you in how to thrive with the seasons, how to cook for joy and wellness and how to keep a food-mood journal to enhance your awareness of your eating habits.

Learn to modulate the impact that emotions have on your eating, loose weight, reduce inflammation, detoxify your body and mind and enhance your knowledge by learning about food and about practices that promote physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Time + Location

Feed your Body + Spirit air live online on SATURDAYS from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time according to the schedule below. You can join the classes from wherever you are in the world from your computer, tablet or mobile device. If you miss a class, don’t worry! ALL CLASSES ARE RECORDED and class participants have access to the recording anytime throughout 2016.

Class Schedule and Topics!

Class 1: February 6 – Winter Nourishing Foods Cooking Class, with Aerin Alexander

In our first class of the year, we will share four key recipes to restore your energy during the wintertime. You will learn how to wash, soak, cut and cook grains, legumes and veggies to prepare lovely winter stews. Aerin will inspire you to cook more at home and save money and time. Also, as you cook with Aerin, you will learn how to hone your abilities to stay warm, and enter into a mood of retrospection and self-care. Don’t miss our first class!

Class 2: February 27 – Dr. Reid + Dr. Perez Calvo: The Perfect Diet for Your Spiritual Practice

Drs. Reid and Perez Calvo, with more than 30 years of experience between them, will share the key components of a nutritious diet and its principles to create and sustain a spiritual practice. Both doctors are well trained in Western and Eastern medicine, including Tibetan and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and will share tips to help you mediate, stay consistent with your Energy Life Science Institute practice, yoga or whatever other practice that you want to cultivate through consistency and discipline. This will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the voice of two experts.

Class 3: March 26  – Springtime Cooking Class, with Aerin Alexander + Special Guest

Springtime is a perfect time to renew and flourish from the inside out! This is an ideal opportunity to shed any extra pounds that may be bothering you and to detoxify your liver. Learn four key recipes to stay in tune with the season, strengthen your immune system to reduce allergies and awaken your vitality! Spring is also the time for new beginnings and manifesting our deep desires. Have fun cooking with Aerin!

Class 4: April 23 – Food and Addiction, with Emotional Eating Expert Tricia Nelson

Are you struggling with your weight? Have you ever used food as a coping mechanism for life’s stresses? Have you overeaten to fill your emotional holes? Tricia Nelson, Emotional Eating Expert, Certified Coach and Director of Roy Nelson Healing, will share from her personal experience of obesity and emotional eating, as well has her 27 years of extensive research on food addiction and the addictive personality. You can heal your relationship with food. In Tricia’s class, learn:

  • Why “comfort foods” are so comforting
  • How to differentiate between physical and emotional hunger
  • Three hidden causes of compulsive eating and how to heal them
  • How to deal with obsessive food thoughts
  • The #1 weight loss mistake you should never make
  • How to manage stress before it drives you to the kitchen
  • The direct connection between your relationship with food and your relationship with Spirit

Class 5: May 28 – Food-Mood Awareness Journaling, with Jordan Hoffman, L.Ac., Dipl. OM

Confused about what the healthiest foods are to eat? Dizzied by conflicting nutrition information? Let’s end the confusion together and get back to basics:  How does food make you feel? Dr. Hoffman will guide you in keeping a 5-day Food-Mood Journal to see where you are at with your choices and help you make connections between those choices and how you feel in your body. It really can help you feel empowered, knowledgeable, and self-aware about how food actually makes you feel. You will gradually begin to make decisions about your food choices not based on concepts, theories, and the head, but rather from what your body wants, needs, enjoys, and thrives on.

Jordan will give personal and specific feedback to the first three journals emailed to jordan@jordanhoffmanacupuncture.com. When emailing your Food-Mood Journal, please include some basic health history so that Jordan has a context from which to give you feedback. Please email him one week prior to the start of the class.

Class 6: July 2 – Summer Family Cooking Class, with Aerin Alexander + Family

Enjoy fresh foods to keep you and your family cool! Yeah! Come ready to cook with your kids, partner or friends. This is the time of the year for outside gatherings and parties. Learn to make shakes and vegan ice cream, and how to keep your body cool, hydrated and invigorated during summertime. Join our class for good summer fun!

Class 7: September 3 – Balance Your Hormones: Change Your Body + Your Life, with Dr. Reid   

Our spiritual experience is rooted in our biochemistry. Indeed, hormones can be described as “messengers of Spirit.” Learn how specific hormones can change your body and your life.

New Date! Class 8: October 8 – Autumn Nourishing Cooking Class, with Aerin Alexander

This is the prefect time to start warming and nourishing your body for the winter ahead. Boost your immune system with the power of food. Learn to make stews, soups, and casseroles that feed your body and spirit. We share our favorite spices and natural additives to add to autumn foods. The class includes tips on how to use Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs in addition to foods.

New Date! Class 9: November 12 – Young, Vital and on the Move: The Vascular System, with Dr. Reid

It would not be an exaggeration to say that young vessels equate to young age and that a healthy, vital flow in the blood vessels makes every other part of your body shine and function well. Open yourself up to discovering the universal flow and connections that are inherent in your arteries, veins and lymph glands.

Who Are the Teachers?

Classes are guided by Dr. Miles Reid, Aerin Alexander and a team of guest professionals. Classes are guided in English with simultaneous Spanish and Russian translation available. *Simultaneous translations are conducted through TeamSpeak and Skype. Please contact us ahead of time if you do not speak English and require Russian or Spanish translation.
