Wonder: Changing the World

Dear Being Energy Community,

What are you passionately curious about?  What fills you with wonder?

As practitioners of Being Energy®,  many of us have a deep connection to all or at least one aspect of the practice:  the movements, the guided explorations, or the Recapitulation practices.  We lose ourselves in the silence and connect to our inner seer.

We become explorers and someties teachers on a path with heart.  We learn and gain real knowledge from our experiences.

Calling on our passion is a potent first step for teachers of any kind. Sometimes it takes time for us to rediscover or reignite a passion that went adrift in a life filled with routines for making a living or caring for family.  Sometimes the practice is dedicated to finding out why we do what we do most hours of the day, until we remember what makes us passionate about our work or the work we secretly want to do.

When we find our passion again, we find clarity, the eyes shine, and we awaken our inner seer.  We discover ourselves in a mood of childlike curiosity, the perfect place for a teacher to be!

As a Being Energy® Teacher or practitioner, how are you using the knowledge of the seers of ancient Mexico in your work, in your day-to-day?

The BE community is a conglomerate of unique individuals who have been teaching and practicing the movements with all sorts of people in their local communities.  We have posted their personal stories and you can read about them in our community and teacher blogs.  Because we are all unique beings, and in most of the stories shared, BE Teachers are finding a variety of ways to connect with others and engage in a process of learning together, and its often done through teaching.

Each one of us has a gift that is exclusively ours.  If we thought of our body-mind as a musical instrument, our music would sound unlike any other sound in the universe.  As teachers, we are compelled to share our unique perception with others, our song.  When we acquiesce to a strong feeling for teaching, we eventually turn a uniquely personal process into an art of awakening for others.

How does your song move from your heart to others?

The meaningful work each one of us does, we may even say, the work we are on this planet to do, is found through heart-based perception and exploration.  If you felt something while reading this blog, then you know what we’re getting at.  Whether we are teaching or modeling BE practices in our lives, with family or colleagues, we all know that we’re drawn to the path with heart for a reason.

Once we discover what’s in our hearts, the next step is to acquire the skills and tools we need to carry our exploration to another level.  The questions we ask ourselves penetrate deeper into our body-mind system, and at Being Energy we enter a new level of refining the energy movements.

Whether you decide to be a Being Energy® Teacher or not, we enter into a continuous, dynamic process of applying the practice, discovering ourselves, and sharing our knowledge with the community at large.

You probably remember your favorite teachers.  They were parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, school teachers, the ones who were asking questions much of the time, inspiring you with their passion, asking for your input and empowering you to get out there, follow your dream and do something.  Wouldn’t you love to emulate them?

The Being Energy BE Skilled! Classes are a great way for a practitioner or Being Energy® Teacher to enter into a dynamic cycle of practice.  The classes delve deeper into the movements and the Being Energy principles.  You are guided, step-by-step, through the movements and will learn how to modify them to suit your individual needs as well as the needs of others.  The classes are designed to renew and strengthen your connection with your inner seer.

However we choose to BE, we are revolutionaries on this path with heart.  Our practice becomes cyclical, revolving.  Our new perceptions and behaviors are revolutionary because they detach us from unquestioning social norms.  We either model the behaviors of a heart-centered practice, or we teach it to others.   Either way, we are in the process of changing the world.  Perhaps it’s little by little, but sometimes that’s how it works.

Thank you for changing the world with us.

Dear Being Energy Community,

My name is Gammadian Freeman. I was born in Kent, known as the garden of England. I enjoyed living a wild and free existence in nature, as a country boy by the sea, compared to a disciplined, Christian existence at home, which I did not enjoy as much. The dichotomy of home and field led me to run away from home at the age of 16 and I became involved in the local music scene, which led me to travel around the country to festivals and happenings. At Glastonbury I was fortunate to meet a meditation teacher, and soon after, I was initiated and set off overland for India.

I travelled extensively and mastered other practices.  During that time, I was diagnosed with TB. Complications led to paralysis, being in a wheel chair and later, using crutches and then walking sticks for many years.

I was heavily influenced by Carlos Castaneda’s writings, and felt an undeniable force to use the movements to heal myself.  Once, in an unforgettable day I reached my Energy Body, I mean, I got in contact with a part of my indescribable self, pure energy. I had been in excruciating physical pain and through movements and dreaming I was able to shift my state of consciousness.

When I returned to my daily self, the pain was gone. I decided to throw away my sticks and painkillers. I had been given another chance in life. My physical body was paralyzed, and the energy movements renewed me.  I had no inner dialogue, I was quiet and in another sate of consciousness. I was newborn with loads of energy.

There was no doubt that I needed to find others who might be practicing the movements.  I searched and found a community of practitioners!  I felt a push to share my experience and to help others. Soon, I was involved in organizing and teaching weekly groups, as well as becoming part of a large gathering of practitioners in Karma Ling from all types of backgrounds in Europe. This year we celebrated our 10th anniversary! Dr. Miles Reid has been a guest instructor there twice.

Now I practice Being Energy and I feel more energetic, healthy and focused, my stamina and flexibility have increased.  During my training in Module 2, I reconnected with Ena Xena, my partner. We worked together at Karma Ling to present a series of movements called “The Code,” continuously perfecting its presentation.  While working together, we began dreaming together, eventually becoming life partners. We realized that we share a similar dream.

After leading a workshop in Colombia, Ena and I travelled to run retreats, teaching and enjoying my favorite hobby, scuba diving.  On our return to England, we moved into a new place, our centre, which we use for massage and movement.  We created a website that showcases what we have been learning and what we want to share with the world.  As a practitioner, I continue to enhance my knowledge, and, currently I am studying nutrition and hypnotherapy.

Finally, I would like to share a story that has touched my heart and has deeply affected me, something that occurred several years ago, and connected me with youngsters, who face enormous challenges in London.

I was in a public garden practicing Being Energy. Some teenage schoolgirls came into the garden. They were extremely agitated and loud. I continued practicing. The leader was swinging a knife around and saying she was going to knife the leader of a local gang who had disrespected her. I continue practicing my movements, staying in the present.

After a while, she came to me and said what I was doing seemed really calming, and could she join me to calm herself. I showed her some simple grounding and flowing movements. She encouraged the others to join her and they did.

After some while, the boys that had antagonized them came in. I invited them to join in, and they did.  When the time came for a pause, instead of a confrontation, they all remained calm, and some sort of an accord was reached. After that, whenever they saw me practicing in the garden, they joined me. They asked me to go and teach at their school, but at the time I was returning to Asia. I am looking forward to see them again and teaching at their school.

This was an auspicious experience for me in the sense that it showed me the possibility of working with teenagers and adults stressed by modern urban living.  I saw how easily it helped to shift their behavior, and how hungry for calm they were.  I was able to see the relief it provided them.  I see the need for the work we do and how beneficial the effects are.

Now based in London I am looking to extend our work, particularly with teenagers, and to move into a bigger property. We at Open Wing are all set to return to Colombia, where we will be facilitating a series of workshops and a tour of power places with the indigenous people in the area.

Thank you for reading about my story, I hope I inspired you to share yours,

Unfolding Wings: The Myth of the Plumed Serpent

Dear Being Energy Community,

When did you unfold wings?  How did you do it?

Lets start by looking at how we can apply the myth of the Plumed Serpent to our daily lives. First of all it calls for daring.  When we decide to do something new, we start a personal process of becoming, a process that moves us from something we know into unknown and unfamiliar territory.

The myth describes the story of a snake evolving into something inconceivable.  By growing wings the snake becomes airborne and changes into something new and undiscovered.  Earth and sky are united, and conceptually, it reveals a personal process that opens us to uniting the contrasts or contradictions within us.  In order for us to change, we need to give something up before the new thought or behavior becomes the new one.

The myth of Quetzalcoatl links the space between the old and the new, and embodies a process of becoming.  For the shamans of Mesoamerica the Plumed Serpent is a symbol of evolution.  It describes the evolution of the cosmos, or the evolutionary process each one of us embodies.

Apply this concept to your life:

When was the last time you dared to try something completely new?  When did you unfold wings?  How did it feel?

For example, when leaving the stability of an old job to start something completely different.  On the one hand it is exciting and fulfilling to move towards something more meaningful, yet on the other hand, it produces the kind of teeth-chattering fear of not being able to pay the rent or mortgage.  What will I lose, what will I have to give up?  What if I’m successful?

What else unfolds in that process?  If I am moving towards more meaningful work and looking for congruence with one of my beliefs or perspectives, like, “I need to contribute something to the world, I need to give back,” what new view will unfold?  I might find that I have reserves of energy I didn’t know existed for working on projects that satisfy my belief of helping others.  I might find that helping others sometimes satisfies me more than the people I want to “help.”  I might learn that I need to take more time to understand the needs of others before taking action to help them.

Certain aspects of myself unfold and in that process I embody contrasting perspectives. The transformative experience creates a wider perspective that moves me toward new behaviors.

The myth of the Plumed Serpent connects us deeply to the universe and all its contrasts, light and dark, life and death.

You may have heard the quote from astronomer Carl Sagan, spoken in an old television series called Cosmos.  In it Sagan said, “We are a way for the universe to know itself.  Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return. And we can, because the cosmos is also within us. We’re made of star stuff.”  When we connect with the cosmos, the evolutionary process inside of us, we can become something new.

We at Being Energy practice a sequence of movements and breathing techniques, the Quetzalcoatl movements to explore new beginnings, or to intend a shift in our lives. Through the practice of this sequence of movements, we shift our perception; we focus our minds and hearts in the unfolding momentum of the present moment.

We focus on the vibrations within us to activate the sinewy, undulating movement of the serpent moving up through our spine.  We spark our mind-body to remember and manifest an ancient memory of who we are, and who we want to become.

The Quetzalcoatl movements activate the vibratory force within to connect with something new outside of us.  We open ourselves to the moment of our wings unfolding, acknowledge our discoveries and actively choose new paths. When did you unfold your wings?  How did it happen?  What aspects of you need to unfold?

Share your comments, ask questions and keep exploring!

Daily Classes: Sustaining Flow

Dear Being Energy Community:

Some of us have a hard time building healthy habits and sustaining a daily practice.  Carlos Castaneda wrote in his book Tales of Power, “The only possible course that a warrior has is to act consistently and without reservations. At a certain moment he knows enough of the warrior’s way to act accordingly, but his old habits and routines may stand in his way.  If a warrior is to succeed in anything, the success must come gently, with a great deal of effort but with no stress or obsession.”

The type of no-stress effort can start by allowing yourself to receive help. Just click on the link and be immediately assisted by others wanting the same as you. By practicing Being Energy® movements, we can:

  • Improve your posture, flexibility, focus and physical and mental agility
  • Invigorate the mind-body to reveal your spirit
  • Awaken your natural joy of movement
  • Connect you with a vibrant global community

In the practice, we set an intent, and gather energy and silence; then we can create a plan to fit the practice into our day-to-day.  Some of the most powerful strategies begin with using positive imagery and focusing on useful components.  If we interrupt our habit, even in small ways, over time it will lose traction and cease to affect us.

Join the Being Energy community and shift to a new way of BEing, using movement and breath to shake up our physical habit, be transported into your inner world with guided explorations to access the inner seer and our own healing powers. Using energy movements and breaths imbued with ancient knowledge, we quickly remember and feel our connection to the deeper force within ourselves.

Being Energy Teachers from around the world will conduct live online classes, every weekday to guide you in a consistent mind-body practice. We introduce and invite you to join our new Daily Mind, Body + Spirit Classes either to get started and/or to maintain a regular, sustained practice.  Being Energy movements over time with Being Energy Teachers who will teach the same movements for a three-month period.  As one practitioner discovered, “I do like the new structure of the classes. It’s somehow more personalised and more exciting. It’s interesting to not focus on remembering a single set of movements over a week, but to do several and just go with it, and eventually they come together over the month.”

We are offering the new classes for free during the month of September and October! so you can invite your family, friends, colleagues, or fitness partners to practice with you. Read more for details on the class descriptions and schedule. Set a new intent and give yourself the gift of Connecting to your true Spirit: purpose, daring and joy!

Fluidity of Perception: Find Purpose, Daring and Joy

Dear Being Energy Community:

What do we mean by being in Flow?  Think of how you feel when you exhale deeply.  Try it.  In that moment of letting go, of release, we acquiesce to something outside of us and to something within us.

Carlos Castaneda described how the Mesoamerican shamans understood the universe as energy and that his apprenticeship was designed to guide him to see energy as it flows.  The ancient shamans saw that there is an energetic flow to all things and all processes in our world and in the universe at large.  As humans, we are expressions of that energy and are deeply connected to that flow.

Just as the universe is expanding and growing, we too expand our awareness and become open to new possibilities.  We are beings of energy that flow in and with the universe, in a deeply personal connection that exists within us and outside of us.

When does energy stop flowing for us?  How are we stopping the flow and inhibiting our perception?  How are we keeping ourselves from remembering our connection?

Anger and resentment are two forces that stop energy in its tracks.  Energy stops flowing and we retreat.  It closes the heart and we get depressed.  Over time, holding feelings of anger and resentment seep into our subconscious and may settle as physical illness or disease, or even affect us on a cellular level.  Stopping the flow of energy in this manner uses more energy and we age more rapidly, losing vitality.

If there is anything we should be afraid of, it is our own resentment and grudges.  This week we want to invite you to try an exercise of letting go, of tapping into your own healing processes.  Find a quiet spot and take 5 minutes to:

  1. Check in with yourself, e.g., where is your body tight or holding tension?
  2. Acknowledge the negative thoughts you have.
  3. Give yourself what you wanted from someone else, e.g., affection, attention, acceptance, recognition/appreciation.

These simple steps will release energy and guide us toward a state of flow, where we are vulnerable, with open heart and open mind. Allowing the energy to flow, we allow our breath to flow easier and we exhale more fully.

Thank you for practicing with us.  Let us know how you feel!

Join us for more in depth practices for being in FLOW in our new Path With Heart Series XIV, Flow – The Art of Moving the Assemblage Point.  You will learn new ways to apply the knowledge of the ancient shamans of Mesoamerica and boost your physical stamina and increase your energy levels.  Learn tools that will help your body-mind to thrive and enliven your full potential.

Teacher Explorer – New Perspectives to Transform Our World

Dear Being Energy Community,

Hello BE community! My name is Aleida Gonzalez and I live in Monterrey, Mexico, in city surrounded by mountains. My vocation, as a therapist, led me to travel on divergent paths. I have learned a variety of methods that support my wellness and helping others.

Something I really enjoy doing is hiking. Whenever I am available, I like to go to the mountains, and go into the freshness of the forest, or walk in the desert.

At the age of 20 I had my first contact with the teachings of Don Juan and the legacy we inherited from the nagual Carlos Castaneda. It was a call to my spirit. I immediately identified with the books and then immersed in the practice for several years by attending seminars. It been a great experience and I was grateful to continue the teachings of the nagual through the knowledge I have gained in the courses and trainings of the Being Energy program. My approach to life is exploring different perspectives. I think it is helpful to have a better understanding of our own natures, and the everyday world in which we perceive.

Learning about our history is a way of gaining more fluency, learning, experiencing and growing, recognizing the wisdom of our ancestors, recognizing our potential and transforming the world we live in. I also like to learn about other cultures, for example, the Lakota tradition and inipi wisdom. Every month we do healing work in the full moon, singing and thanking the great Creator and Mother Earth for our relationships, to follow in the way of love in the Toltec knowledge. I share the idea and dream of preserving the legacy of our future lineages and also to share our wisdom with others.

When I attended the first course of Being Energy, it was very interesting to learn and practice in greater depth the various aspects of the Being Energy movments®. Through practice, I can experience a greater increase in my energy, mental clarity, inner silence and a deeper perception of my consciousness. I feel more empathy and fluidity in my daily tasks.

I am currently completing a degree of Bachelor of Pedagogy and Education. At this stage of my life it is the importance of sharing and teaching others from the heart, that I consider most important. I want to focus on the affective, emotional work of my own wellbeing in order to achieve a better range and execution of and integration with my rational and intellectual self. I am currently investigating Modules 1 and 2 of Being Energy and in an internship for my degree, I am teaching Being Energy classes to students and teachers at a high school three times a week. It gives me an opportunity to promote the wellbeing of others and to share the many benefits of practicing Being Energy movements. I also teach and guide others in the Daily live practice classes online for Being Energy one day a week.

I have many dreams that I want to manifest. I would like to travel, discover new places, continue teaching, sharing my experiences and learning from others. I would like to create and start a family in harmony with my life partner, work together and follow our transformational path, while walking confidently on that path with love.

Thank you for listening!

A Dialogue of Celebration and Connection

Dear Being Energy Community,

Our hearts fill with joy when the Being Energy community inspires us through their creative activities and group explorations of awareness. This coming weekend there are two communities of practitioners and friends who will be following a heart centered path to practice Being Energy® movements and meditations. They are cool and inspiring people and they offer life-changing experiences!

One of the groups is hosting a practitioner event in Arvillard, France, while the other group will be joining a sustainability festival called Fala Sampa in Sao Paulo, Brazil. These two groups will be sharing their practices locally, and will also join their intent across continents to acknowledge a deeply shared connection and support for each other and the earth.

The event at Karma Ling Institute, a Buddhist center, situated in a breathtaking forest at an altitude of 800 meters (2,625 feet) in France, near the Swiss border, began as a collaborative endeavor among practitioners of Carlos Castaneda’s teachings. Their co-creative intent has been nurtured every year for the past ten years and has always resulted in a diversity of participants, with up to sixteen different countries represented!

KL 4 ParticipantsKL 2 Participants

Maurice Meyer and Roseanna Sacco have been Karma Ling organizers, together with Rakel Sosa, Gammadian Freeman, Ena Xena and Stephane Senator. They will focus on celebration, as they honor where they were and where they are today.

There has been an energetic exchange with the Buddhist community of Karma Ling over the years, exploring similarities and sharing practices. They will practice Being Energy movements, as well as pranayama breath and experience a gong bath among other activities.

KL Gong Bath

We highly recommend it; you won’t find this anywhere else! Read and register here.

Fala Sampa, or Speak Sampa will take place at the annual Sao Paulo, Brazil Sustainability Festival. Being Energy® Teachers will connect with others in an intense dialogue around the topic of Sustainable Turnaround, to share expression and movements that are already happening in Sao Paulo and turning the city.

FS facebook photos - copia

Being Energy Teachers have been teaching and practicing Being Energy® movements in Sao Paulo and they will guide a class for hundreds of people at the festival. We can view Being Energy movements as a form of dialogue with ourselves, with others, with the earth, the universe, the dark sea of awareness, or Intent. We are excited to hear that the movements will be shared and used to connect with the Sao Paulo community in the city festival, as well as the Being Energy community.

The Fala Sampa website (in Portugese) quotes Physicist Alain Aspect to inspire our practice of connecting, “…subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other, despite the distance separating them, no matter if it is 10 meters … or 10 billion miles!”

FS participants meditating

Being Energy Teacher, Patricia Aguirre, one of the Fala Sampa organizers, invites the Being Energy community to join with the intent of their Sustainable Turnaround. They will practice on Sunday, August 31st at 1:30 PM Brazil time, which is 9:00 AM Pacific Time.

Take a moment and practice a Being Energy® movement, or sit in silence and connect to Sao Paulo, Karma Ling, and the World on Sunday.

World Peace

Dear Being Energy Community,

It has been shocking to read some of the stories in the news again after spending five days in our retreat in Hawaii. We have been inhaling pristine pure air, eating organic foods, celebrating mother nature, and connecting deeply into our souls while in different parts of the world hundreds of innocent civilians were killed in an ongoing battle amongst ego-centered identification groups of fixed beliefs.

I couldn’t hold back my tears when reading about the sixteen civilians killed in Gaza while looking for refuge in the one place they presumed would remain safe, a United Nation’s school. The conflict between Israel and Palestine touches me deeply. The grief inflicted on both sides is so deep and long lasting, sometimes it seems it will never end.

I didn’t sleep for days after finding out about the three Israeli teens killed by a Hamas terrorist group. I thought about their families, the unbearable sorrow, and the unfairness of it all. In a second I was transported 30 years back to when I was living in Argentina under a dictatorship. I was also a teenager and had witnessed dead bodies in the streets. The Argentinian army took over the government and killed more than 30,000 innocent people labeled as “different” or “subversive.”  College students and teachers were tortured and killed. For more than a decade I lived under fear.

Other news stories were about the conflicts in Syria and Turkey, the Sunni militants in Iraq, the violence in Honduras, and the Ukraine disaster of the Malaysia plane with 290 passengers. I put down the paper. I wanted to run and scream, how can I reconcile all the suffering and the contradictory feelings within me?

I did what I have been doing for years. I brought a hand to my heart and breathed; I closed my eyes, and stayed with the agitation that the news stirred in me. I kept breathing and connecting with the feelings until it got quiet inside, and somehow I was able to hold it all. I didn’t deny it, and “get busy” doing something else. I woke up to it.

How can waking up help to build a more peaceful world?

In our retreat in Hawaii we reflected on how we identified ourselves with our roles, with our economic and socio-political position in society.  Instead of saying “I practice medicine,” we say, “I am a doctor.”  Instead of saying, “I get to enjoy taking care of you,” we say, “I am YOUR mother.”  We fall asleep in the safety of what a particular status may bring. We stop thinking clearly: we act on autopilot, believing that we are what we think, without questioning it.

On a larger scale, this ego-centered self-identification creates a psyche that contributes to building cults, extreme political parties, unbalanced religious factions and terrorism. When we succumb to self-identification and labels, we become sleepwalkers.  When we stop questioning, we end up hating anyone that is different from us, anything that contradicts our unquestioned belief system. Cult leaders and dictators feel superior and tend to separate themselves and their groups from the rest. They behave in ways that create fear designed to dominate people, limiting individual freedoms of self-expression. These leaders like to intimidate and dominate through fear.

A path with heart, a place within ourselves where we can take a moment to really look at our actions, our self identifications, our fixed ideas and sit with them, is a path to a different state of consciousness.

Every second, every minute we can dedicate to sitting or moving in silence, meditating on our actions, questioning our belief system, is a step towards peace. We find, as we did in Hawaii, that we are much larger than our thoughts, than our self identified roles. We find that there is a web of energy or love that connects us all. And that is not just a catchphrase, it is scientifically proven.

We invite you to join us and practice:

  • 3 minutes of silence every day
  • Recapitulate your day
  • Look at each person you meet in the eyes. When someone is talking, put your cell phone down, and really connect with that person, even if it is for a few seconds.

We don’t know how much time we have left. The only time we have is NOW. Use all of your energies to awaken and start building a more peaceful and interesting world.

In Being Energy, our prayers this week go to all people suffering to find relief in meditation and in silence,[separator top=”40″]

Kalani: A Recapitulation

Aloha Dear Community,

We have just wrapped up an unforgettable experience at Hawaii. The retreat—the first 5-day event at Being Energy—was an ideal setting for the focus theme of the workshop: the recapitulation technique. Over the course of the five days, everything we did, the Being Energy® movements, the recapitulation sessions, was highlighted by the forces of nature. The lush vegetation, the black lava, the tropical heat and the rain, all gave their distinct bodily experience and were an integral part of the experience at Kalani.

Because of the distance to get to Hawaii—its position in the middle of the ocean is part of its special nature, everyone who came had a great disposition and strong intention. We were lucky to have such a wonderful group. Participants came from the mainland US, Alaska, Argentina, Switzerland, England, Mexico, Lithuania and Russia, a crisscross of backgrounds that allowed us as a group to access a wide variety of views.

Besides the workshop sessions, the group got to start each morning bathing in a local hot springs by the ocean. See our photo with everyone doing feet Being Energy movements at the hot ponds!

During the workshop, we began with the question: Who am I? Peeling layers of how we see ourselves: our deep beliefs. The journey throughout was for each one to discover new layers, to add or expand those definitions or break free from some of them. Details over the recapitulation included guidelines on different types of recapitulation: Observing where does my attention go, Recapitulating how did I wake up, Recapitulating our behavior at work, Recapitulating relationships and Recapitulating a specific event.

The ancient seer’s code gave everyone the chance to experience stopping the flow of their thoughts and leave the ind more readily pliable to see differently and change. These are indeed powerful movements, and they very much resonated with the powerful feel of the Big Island.

On the fourth day, we took those old ideas about ourselves up to the volcano. We took them to Pele, who lives in the lava, to help our individual intentions. For most of the way up, it looked like a storm weather was going to prevent us from making it, but at the end, we descended through a fern forest into the crater floor. It was foggy and mysterious as we hiked across the lava. This is pure earth energy as it gets. In geological time, the lava has barely cooled down for humans to walk on it, but one can still feel the force of the earth coming from deep below the surface under ones feet. This is what Carlos Castaneda called getting a boost from the earth. We each took in this boost to help us turn our wheels—our starting point of Who am I?

[rev_slider kalani]

It was great to see Being Energy teachers begin to guide some sections of the movements –thank you Keiron. We want to see more and more of this happening at our workshops. We are thankful for the opportunity to have lived this retreat and we want to extend and share this feeling with you, all of the Being Energy community.

Here is a guideline for an easy to follow exercise for you to have a feel of the recapitulation:

Recapitulating how I woke up: Every day we are born again!

  • Practice any Being Energy® sequence of movements
  • Close your eyes
  • Bring your attention to your body, to the sensations in your physical body
  • Travel in Time: go back to feel how you woke up this morning
  • Stay present with the physical sensations and feelings that arose
  • Breathe in and out several times
  • Open your eyes and keep breathing
  • Close your practice bringing your hands to your heart. Try not to make any conclusions about it. Just enjoy the feeling of pausing to remembering the way you woke up

Teaching Children to Gather Energy

Dear Being Energy Community:

When academic Erika Gavin first found the books of Carlos Castaneda she began a journey taking her from Padua University in northern Italy to Tijuana on the US border, devoting her life to the investigation of the mysteries of ancient Mexico.

6 Erika

She first settled in Guanajuato, a colonial city in central Mexico, obtaining a Bachelors in Spanish Literature. She then worked at the University of Guanajuato as a Lecturer for more than twelve years, latterly winning a scholarship for a Master’s degree from the University of Perugia as an Italian teacher.

After meeting her husband Julio, a Math Professor and Taekwondo black belt, and having a son, Aimon, they moved to Tijuana on the USA/Mexico border where Julio took up a teaching post. Erika said, “I was so confident this change was a decision from my path with heart, urging me to experience myself as a mother, wife and instructor, to commit more with my life and my spirit.”

Erika, a qualified Yoga teacher, then began studying with Miles Reid and Aerin Alexander and is now also a fully qualified teacher of the three Modules of Being Energy®. “I was so amazed and excited about the change and openness with which Miles and Aerin were hosting the legacy of Carlos Castaneda. Thanks to Being Energy I feel more stable and have a clearer direction and purpose in my life. I feel I’m finally on the way back home, more aligned with myself and the different aspects of my life… closer to my heart.”

Erika teaches the Being Energy® Daily Awareness Classes live on the web, and three weekly classes together with a monthly Saturday workshop in Tijuana.

The Tijuana classes explore a different aspect of Being Energy movements and silence practices each month. Her next Saturday workshop will be on August the 23rd with the theme of recapitulation.

She has also begun classes for children and teenagers between the ages of 6 – 14. Says Erika, “We are helping them develop trust through drawing attention to their bodies, noticing how everything that happens to us has an impact on the body. We are practicing a series of exercises called Gathering Energy and they love it!”.

She summed up her commitment, “There is nothing more exciting for me than this exploration, this knowledge that comes with every movement of my body. Every time I remember my breathing in a situation where I’m stuck, or the silence surrounding me when I finish a practice, I watch and feel another Erika take charge, more fluid, present, loving, returning to the pleasure of being alive that children experience, the unconditional love for others. Thanks to the work I’m doing with Being Energy I am learning to give and share without wanting to change people, without expectations.”
